Hello!
My name is Anne Maertens. I’ve had the pleasure of interning with Ada for the past few months to help lay the groundwork for the organization’s fundraising efforts. I’m also in my first year of graduate school at UW’s Evans School of Public Policy and Governance.
I grew up in Minnesota, but I’ve been in the Seattle area for about a decade and at my home in Fremont for the nearly five years. Prior to school and Ada, I worked at a small software company called EnergySavvy, which provides software to support utility-run energy efficiency programs. While there, I had firsthand experience with the gender gap in tech. However, I was also pleased to watch the company work hard to address this issue through its Ada intern sponsorship program.
In my free time, I love doing anything active such as yoga, cooking, and gardening. I’m also a huge nerd/a bit competitive, and I love playing strategy-based board games. My next big adventures outside of school and Ada are a trip to Hawaii for spring break and tying the knot with my fiancé this summer. My life is extremely busy and exciting these days, and I’m so glad that Ada is a part of it.
