Hi! I’m Sarah, the brand new student counselor. I arrived at Ada in late July after spending several years as a case manager and counselor for formerly homeless women. I had the privilege of working with clients right as they moved into their own apartment and began all sorts of amazing transitions in their lives. I grew up in Seattle and briefly left to go to school in Iowa, where I studied gender and history. When I’m not at Ada, I play frisbee and pinball, go for slow, painful runs, hang out with my toddler nephew, and walk my newish dog, Alligator.
In addition to providing one-on-one student support, I’m also facilitating on-going curriculum around diversity, inclusion, and social justice. I would love to hear thoughts, feedback, or concerns around this crucial work at Ada. My goal is to help create responsive, community-oriented social justice programming that is explicitly integrated into Ada’s student culture. I’m thrilled about participating in this process and getting to know the Ada community.
