Today, we’ve announced that Shawna Young will transition from her role as the Interim CEO at Ada on Monday, April 8, 2024, to pursue a new opportunity. To maintain consistency and the momentum built, long-time Ada Board Member, Tina-Marie Gulley, will assume the Interim CEO role starting on April 9th. As a Seattle-based, nonprofit leader and Ada Board member for nearly four years, Tina-Marie brings a wealth of experience and knowledge from the tech industry, as well as a deep commitment to our mission.
Shawna’s leadership at a time of great market disruption provided clarity and structure for Ada’s path forward. Shawna is stepping away at a moment when Ada is in a much stronger state with a team and incoming Interim CEO who are more passionate about Ada’s mission than ever before. Shawna’s tenure was marked by the strengthening of Ada’s bonds with our donors, partners, board members, alumni, and the broader community. She skillfully led us through challenges including economic setbacks, widespread layoffs in tech, and resistance to diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts. Despite these obstacles, Shawna helped get us closer to “Changing the Face of Tech.”
This past year has been an important period of evolution and now thanks to Shawna, Ada is in a great position to intensify our focus on refining our strategies around successful processes, programming, philanthropy, and partnerships with Tina-Marie at the helm. We express our deepest gratitude to Shawna for her invaluable contributions and wish her all the best in her next chapter. For more details about Shawna’s new role, click here.
