David Daniels, HR Manager & Seattle Site Lead at Snap, Inc.
What drew you to serve in Ada’s Advisory board?
“I’m passionate about diversifying our tech workforce and want to do my part to help course correct things for the future. I’ve worked as a career advisor for coding bootcamps and have experience working on non-profit boards. This opportunity marries so many passions for me.”
How do you see your role on the board; and how will it help Ada move forward?
“I plan to be an active board member providing guidance and insights on how to effectively manage the curriculum of the program and scaling the business.”
What aspects of your background and experience tie into the Ada community?
“I bring skills and experiences as an educator, HR professional in tech, and being a first-generation college graduate from a low socioeconomic upbringing. My lived experience in my personal and professional life closely aligns with the overall mission of Ada.”
What gender-diverse person or woman in STEM inspires you?
“One of my favorite women in tech is Dona Sarkar. She does it all, software engineering leader, published author, fashion designer, and overall badass. I wish I could accomplish half of what she does each day.”
What is your vision for Ada?
“I would like to see Ada expand its reach and explore opportunities to host students from other regions of the US. Given the challenge and opportunities presented by COVID-19, a lot of the tech workforce is nearing 100% remote and/or WFH. Ada has persisted during this time and there are likely more people to reach in other cities outside of Seattle.”
Do you have an initial message to the Ada community you’d like to share?
“I’m excited to help with the mission of an amazing organization! I’m a firm believer that technical skills can and should be taught to people from all backgrounds and walks of life. Ada is uniquely positioned to right many of the wrongs that have occurred within this rapidly growing industry.”
